Jet Set Radio, known as Jet Grind Radio in the United States, is a game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Dreamcast. It centres on the exploits of various gangs of rollerbladers embroiled in a graffiti tag-related turf war.
In each mission, the player is dropped in a specific area of the region whose missions they are trying to beat and instructed to tag a number of spots with graffiti. These spots are indicated with large red arrows and are therefore usually quite easy to locate, but may be difficult to actually reach. After collecting spray cans from various places in the level, the player can then 'tag' a particular spot by using the L button when they draw near or skate past.
After the first few tags, the police show up, usually led by Captain Onishima. As the player covers more and more of the landscape in his or her gang's graffiti, the police presence escalates further and further, often ending in tanks or rocket-firing helicopters charging onto the scene.
The game is set in a fictional variant of Tokyo, called Tokyo-to, specifically the downtown areas of Shibuya-Cho, Kogane-Cho and Benten-Cho, also including 2 more areas in Grind City, known as Bantam Street and Grind Square.
