Storyline[]

"A grand library that administers all of the world’s history.

They say that the history books in this library have the power to actually rewrite the history of the world.

After a long journey, IF steps foot into the grand library with a certain objective in mind.

However, at the same time, something happens in the library that has been making the history books disappear left and right.

The books’ disappearance means the actual loss of history. As history disappears before her own eyes… so does the world.

In order to correct these wrongs, IF begins her adventure on a journey that goes beyond space-time."

Trivia[]

  • This is the very first time that the Sega Hard Girls franchise gets internationally localized.
  • Many, if not all, of the Sega Hard Girls, who aren't part of the main cast make an appearance as Chirper Characters with many of them having interactions with IF herself as well as running some of the menu options in the library.
  • The plot seems to slightly resemble that of Dragon Ball Xenoverse, as a character has to go through history and stop it from being changed.
    • Similarly, the game is quite similar to Sonic Generations. Both games features two protagonists, which one of them is blue and wears gloves and red footwear, who travel through time to stop a mysterious monster, known as Time Eater, from destroying history. Both also feature platforming and collecting floating collectable items, including hidden collectibles scattered throughout levels. In the English dub, both games also has Kate Higgins voicing a character.
  • This is the first Neptunia game to not include the other 3 main characters, which are Noire, Blanc and Vert, in the game. This is due to the game being focused on Sega themes while the three represent PlayStation, Nintendo and Microsoft Xbox respectively.
    • Oddly enough, this is the first in the series to feature IF without Compa, a personififcation of Compile Heart who always with IF as her close friend. This is probably to make a way to introduce Segami as a new partner for IF.
      • However, Compa cameos in the game inside the Toypolis dungeon. There are arcade cabinets that can be seen that reuses artwork from previous games. One of them is the boxart of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, which features Neptune, IF and Compa. Uni, a Neptunia representation of PlayStation Portable and Vita, also cameos in the same fashion through a reused promotional artwork and boxes of her real-life figures.
  • This is one of the few Neptunia games to not have a credits sequence that parodies various games.
